A Baboo to head FGEHA

The government has appointed Tariq Rashid (BS-20), Secretariat Group, as Director-General Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) for a period of 3 years.

Mr.Tariq Rashid (BS-20, Secretariat Group, is currently working as Managing Director, Pakistan Housing Authority.

The second candidate Mr. Zahoor Ahmed (BS-21), Secretariat Group is currently working as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Works.

The third candidate was Mr. Zahid Zaman Luk BS-20, Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service is currently working as Director General Works Audit.

Furthermore, the Cabinet considered the summary and approved the appointment of Mr, Tariq Rashid (BS-20) as Director General, FGEHA, for a period of 3 years.

The government had established the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) through an Act of Parliament. The FGEHA had a mandate to provide affordable residential facilities to the Federal Government employees and other specified groups, on a no-profit no-loss basis.

Delivering, upon its mandate, the Authority had so far provided approximately 45,000 houses, apartments and plots to its registered members in Peshawar, Karachi and Islamabad.

Section 6(1) of the Federal. Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA)·Act, 2020 provides for the appointment of Director General by the Federal Government.

Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority, vide its letter dated 12th February 2021 has requisitioned the services. of Mr Waseem Hayat Bajwa for appointment as Executive Director (Lands and Estate). Mr.Bajwa had also expressed his willingness to join NAPHDA vide his letter addressed to the Board of Directors of FGEHA.

Moreover, the BoD, in its meeting held on 18th February 2021, had recommended accepting the request of the incumbent Director-General to leave Authority prior to- completion of three years-tenure-and recommended waiver of the condition of three months’ notice as provided in Section 6(6) of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) Act,2020, on the request of the DG.

Additionally, Cabinet  Division had already moved a Summary for the Federal Cabinet for posting of Mr. Wasim Hayat Bajwa in NAPHDA. Housing and Works Division sought the approval of the Cabinet to appoint any one of the officers, from the following panel, as Director-General, FGEHA, for a period of 3 years in terms of Section 6(1) of the FGEHA Act,2020.
