AJK Govt Warns JAAC Against June 9 Protest

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has issued a stern warning to the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), cautioning against their planned protest on June 9. The government emphasized that any disruption to public order will be met with strict legal action.
According to an official spokesperson, while peaceful protest remains a democratic right, turning to confrontation and blocking roads under the guise of protest is unacceptable. The spokesperson stressed that attempts to paralyze public life or interfere with the electoral process will not be tolerated.
The government urged citizens to rely on voting, dialogue, and constitutional mechanisms rather than adopting pressure-based street politics. It highlighted that Azad Kashmir requires stability and practical solutions rather than prolonged agitation.
The spokesperson noted that the government has engaged in negotiations and implemented relief measures addressing the demands put forth by JAAC. Of the 38 demands raised, 35 have reportedly been resolved, reflecting significant progress on the government’s part. Despite this, JAAC has continued with its protest plans, which the government views as political rigidity rather than genuine public interest.
Reiterating its commitment to peace, the AJK government stated that it will prevent any attempts to disrupt public life and ensure the rule of law is maintained. The government encouraged open dialogue and constructive engagement to address outstanding issues, underscoring that law and order will not be compromised under any circumstances.
