Govt wants Supreme Court to revisit Bhutto’s Murder Trial
The Cabinet has resolved to urge the Supreme Court to take up the reference by a full bench to revisit Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s murder trial.
The cabinet has resolved that the Supreme Court may be urged to take up the reference, sent by the former President Asif Ali Zardari on 2nd April, 2011.
The former president Asif Ali Zaradari had send a reference to revisit the murder trial of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s murder trial under Article 186 of the Constitution.
Now the cabinet has decided to seek opinion on revisiting Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s murder trial, for hearing by a full bench, immediately.
A meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held at the Parliament House on April 4, 2023. The Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muharnmad Shehbaz Sharif, was in chair.
The Cabinet had offered Fateha and prayers to mark the 44th death anniversary of former Prime Minister, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
A cabinet member had raised the issue of reference sent to the Supreme Court by the former President Asif Ali Zardari on 2nd April, 2011, under Article 186 of the Constitution to seek opinion on revisiting Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s murder trial.
It was regretted that the reference was still pending with the Supreme Court despite lapse of 12 years.
The cabinet members desired that the Supreme Court should be urged to take up the reference for hearing by a full bench, immediately.
