The district administration’s revenue department will acquire land for the Shahdara Dam as the Capital Development Authority moves forward with the Islamabad water project plan.

The dam, planned for the Shahdara area, is expected to supply 10 million gallons of water daily to residents of Islamabad under the proposed scheme.

CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa chaired a meeting and directed officials to take steps to ensure the project’s early launch following recent administrative reviews discussions.

Officials said WAPDA has completed a feasibility study including estimates for land acquisition, water conveyance systems, and a treatment plant required for the proposed project.

The proposed dam will cover 25 acres, design work will begin soon, and a PC-1 will be submitted for approval to the CDA working party.

Randhawa instructed Suparco to conduct a survey before land acquisition and stressed that all procedures must follow legal requirements under existing laws, regulations, and frameworks.
