Chairman USC asked to explain alleged corruptioncharges

Islamabad: The Ministry of Industries & Production has asked Chairman Utility Stores Corporation Board of Director, Zulqarnain Ali Khan, to explain some of the alleged charges against him, sources in the ministry told Newztodays.com on Saturday.
In a four paged letter addressed to Chairman USC, the ministry has asked to explain his position over the alleged drawl of his personal expenses, favoring a contract to a company owned by him (Zulqarnain Ali Khan) and appointment of Board Member to one of his relatives, sources in the ministry said but wished not to be named.
Sources close to chairman USC confirmed that chairman USC received a letter from the Ministry of Industries & Production as some senior officials in the ministry were not pleased with his writing a letter to Federal Investigation Agency–FIA–over the irregularities in billions of rupees’ procurements in USC after the dolling out of billions of rupees by the Prime Minister office.

According to USC sources, well aware of corruption highlighted by Chairman USC Board told this correspondent that the board highlighted the issue in procurement, particularly credit price variation of white gram & Channa and other procurements of sugar, wheat, etc.
The management of USC has already closed the Chairman’s office and withdrew the facility of car. The tussle between Chairman Board of Director, USC and Managing Director of USC landed in Ministry and Federal Minister for Industries & Production. Hammad Azhar has asked both parties to restrain from media.
