Vivo unveils budget Y05 with 6,500mAh battery, targets entry-level users amid rising smartphone demand

Vivo has launched the Vivo Y05 in Pakistan at a retail price of Rs30,999, expanding its footprint in the country’s competitive entry-level smartphone segment.

The device features a 6,500mAh battery, positioning it among the largest battery capacities currently available in the sub-Rs35,000 category. The company said the handset is designed for users seeking extended battery life for video streaming, social media use, and gaming without frequent charging.

The Vivo Y05 comes with a 6.74-inch IPS LCD display offering HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate aims to deliver smoother scrolling and improved visual performance compared to traditional 60Hz panels commonly found in budget devices.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a Unisoc T7225 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded via a microSD card, catering to users who require additional space for apps and media.

For photography, the device includes an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. While modest in specifications, the camera setup aligns with other entry-level offerings in the same price bracket.

The Vivo Y05 runs on an Android-based operating system with the company’s custom interface layered on top. It also offers a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual SIM support, and essential connectivity features, including 4G LTE.

Pakistan’s smartphone market has shown signs of recovery after a slowdown in 2023 and early 2024 due to import restrictions and currency volatility. According to data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, mobile broadband subscribers crossed 130 million in 2025, reflecting steady demand for affordable smartphones.

Industry analysts note that Chinese brands continue to dominate Pakistan’s handset market, particularly in the budget and mid-range categories. Vivo remains among the leading brands in offline retail channels, competing closely with other Chinese manufacturers offering aggressive pricing and high-capacity batteries.

The launch of the Vivo Y05 comes at a time when inflationary pressures have reshaped consumer purchasing behavior. With headline inflation easing from multi-decade highs recorded in 2023, consumers are gradually returning to discretionary spending, including mobile device upgrades.

Market observers say battery performance has become a key differentiator in Pakistan’s lower-tier smartphone segment, where users often face inconsistent power supply and prefer devices capable of lasting multiple days on a single charge.

With the introduction of the Vivo Y05 at Rs30,999, the company aims to strengthen its presence in Pakistan’s entry-level smartphone segment and capture consumers seeking durability, battery endurance, and essential features at an affordable price point.
