Crown Prince Launches King Salman Gate in Makkah

A transformative 12-million-sqm urban project which is next to AlMasjid AlHaram is aimed at redefining Makkah’s development and enhance the pilgrim experience.

This project is being seen as a landmark multi-use development in Makkah. The project spans an impressive 12 million square meters of gross floor area adjacent to AlMasjid AlHaram. It  represents a major milestone in the city’s modernization and expansion strategy.

It has been designed to set a global benchmark in sustainable and integrated urban planning. King Salman Gate will serve as a cornerstone of Makkah’s future infrastructure to enhance accessibility, livability, and visitor experiences in one of the world’s most sacred destinations.

It is strategically located beside AlMasjid AlHaram and the new mixed-use destination will feature residential, commercial, hospitality, and cultural facilities. It has space to accommodate around 900,000 indoor and outdoor worshippers.

The project is aimed at elevating the quality and efficiency of services to pilgrims and residents alike. It aligns with the goals of the Pilgrim Experience Program, one of Saudi Vision 2030’s key initiatives to enrich spiritual journeys to the Holy City.

According to the RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), King Salman Gate is set to integrate with Makkah’s expanding public transport network to ensure easy and sustainable mobility for visitors.

Around 19,000 square meters of heritage sites will be restored and developed within the project. They will reinforce Makkah’s historical identity and providing educational and spiritual value to future generations.

The project’s scale and impact may significantly contribute to the Kingdom’s economic diversification objectives under Vision 2030. By 2036.

King Salman Gate is estimated to generate more than 300,000 direct and indirect jobs to boost the national economy and strengthening Makkah’s role as a global spiritual, cultural, and economic hub.

RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company has said that the King Salman Gate project is set to adopt sustainable resource management through innovative design, energy-efficient technologies, and environmentally conscious construction practices.
