Dembele Wins Ballon d’Or After PSG Treble Success

Ousmane Dembele has been crowned the Ballon d’Or winner after playing a pivotal role in Paris Saint-Germain’s historic Champions League victory last season.

The French winger scored 35 goals across competitions, guiding PSG to their first-ever European crown alongside a domestic double.

Dembele, 28, succeeded 2024 winner Rodri, edging past Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, who instead collected the Kopa Trophy for best under-21 player.

The triumph marked a defining chapter in Dembele’s career, having previously lifted the World Cup with France in 2018.

Speaking in Paris, the emotional forward credited coach Luis Enrique, who also won Club Coach of the Year. “It was the collective that made this possible,” Dembele said.

Meanwhile, Aitana Bonmati claimed her third consecutive Women’s Ballon d’Or, underlining her dominance in the global game.

The Spain and Barcelona star edged out teammate Mariona Caldentey despite losing both the Women’s Champions League final and the Euro 2025 final.

Other awards included PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma winning the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper, while England’s Hannah Hampton was named best women’s goalkeeper.

Barcelona’s Vicky Lopez was recognised as the best young women’s player.

The Ballon d’Or, football’s most prestigious individual honour, once dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, has now entered a new era of winners.
