Dubai Tests First Crewed Air Taxi, Launch 2026

Dubai achieved a major milestone as its first crewed air taxi successfully completed a test flight, paving the way for public services in kingdom.

The electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft is designed to integrate seamlessly with the smart, sustainable, and pedestrian-friendly transport network.

Developed in partnership with US-based Joby Aviation, the eVTOL aircraft flew from Margham to Dubai World Central ahead of the Dubai Airshow.

The ultra-quiet air taxi carries four passengers, reaches speeds of 320 km/h, and offers a flight range of up to 160 km.

The Roads and Transport Authority briefed Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on the city’s futuristic transport milestone.

Additional plans include 226 km of new roads, 115 bridges and tunnels, and 11 main corridors to strengthen connectivity across the emirate.

The Future Loop project will link major business hubs in Dubai through a 2 km pedestrian bridge, complementing thousands of kilometers of city-wide walkways.

By 2040, Dubai aims to increase pedestrian mobility from 13 percent to 25 percent, promoting sustainable transport alongside its innovative air taxi network.
