Nepra notifies revision in tariff for electricity consumers
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) announced a tariff change for all power distribution companies including K-Electric that will reflect in the bill of electricity consumers in the coming months.
FCA for June 2021 CPPA-G requested a positive FCA of Paisa 80.55/kWh for the month of June 2021. It would have an impact on an Rs.11.2 billion bill in electricity consumers of all power distribution except K-Electric.
On July 28, 2021, the agency convened a public hearing.
The Authority granted a negative FCA of (Rs.0.1930/kWh), with a benefit of Rs.2.6 billion in the electricity bill of K-electric consumers.

The FCA for June 2021 will be charged to all consumer categories of XWDISCOs in the billing month of August 2021, with the exception of lifeline consumers, who consume up to 50 units, domestic consumers who consume up to 300 units, and Agriculture Consumers of all XWDISCOs.
It further stated that the negative adjustment for monthly FCA is equally applicable to domestic consumers with Time of Use (ToU) meters, regardless of consumption level.
Furthermore, industrial consumers that use ISP will not profit from Negative FCA merely on incremental sales. They will, however, profit from the negative FCA on base tariff billed units.
This FCA is only valid for one month. KE customers are not covered by this FCA.
K-Electric FCA for the period of January 2021 to June 2021
NEPRA announced a decision on K-Electric Fuel Charges adjustments for the months of January 2021 to June 2021 in a decision dated August 6, 2021.
The regulator conducted a public hearing on August 3rd, 2021.
The Authority has approved the following FCAs;

The applicability of the aforementioned FCAs would be as per the schedule given below;
Positive FCAs will be applied to all consumer categories except lifeline consumers as follows and they will have new prices in electricity bills.
K-electric shall appear separately on the bills of electricity consumers based on the units billed to them in the month in which the adjustment is made.
Similarly, negative FCAs will apply to all consumer categories except lifeline consumers, home consumers consuming up to 300 units, and K-Electric agriculture consumers.
Meanwhile, it further stated that the negative adjustment for monthly FCA is equally applicable to domestic consumers with Time of Use (ToU) meters, regardless of consumption level.
