CDA issues notices to Navy & Air Force headquarters

Islamabad: The government has directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) to issue notices to Navy and Air Force headquarters to remove encroachments on the roads and Margalla Hills National Park.
In a recent meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Minister for Human Rights had drawn attention to Bahria University’s students’ cars parked on the Margalla road, which severely affected traffic flow.
She also emphasized the need to immediately demolish the illegal structures erected on the service roads north, south, and east in E-8 and E-9 by the Navy and Airforce, respectively.
Chairman CDA informed that the Navy constructed a multi-storied parking plaza to address parking on Margalla road.
On the affirmation to his query as to whether the Navy Golf Course was built in violation of Zone-3, the prime minister exhorted that the conservation of Margalla Hills National Park, which carried unique biodiversity, should be ensured and no infringements should be allowed.
An attention drawn towards the Monal Restaurant. It also sealed on account of violation of Zone-3 had reopened. The Prime Minister directed Chairman CDA to immediately take cognizance of matter and in case of any violation, criminal proceedings should be instituted against the owners.
Alluding to the convenience of food carts in busy commercial areas internationally, the prime minister directed chairman CDA to allow the same in the blue area. This would provide a livelihood to the poor besides accessibility to inexpensive street food for the workers and visitors to the area.
