Astronomers say there is a strong possibility that the Ramadan moon will be sighted in Pakistan on February 18, 2026, based on astronomical data reported on Thursday.

Data shows the new moon will be born on February 17 at 5:01pm, while experts believe the crescent may be visible on the 29th of Shaban 1447 AH.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Peshawar on February 18, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, who will announce the final decision regarding the Ramadan moon sighting.

Zonal committee meetings will also take place in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Quetta, after the Ministry of Religious Affairs issued an official notification about the arrangements.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast clear to partly cloudy skies nationwide on February 18, with viewing expected until 7:08pm in Punjab, 7:24pm in Sindh, 7:47pm in Balochistan, and 7:13pm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
