Four Reasons Why FaceTime for iPhone can’t beat Zoom
There are three reasons why FaceTime for iPhone cannot beat Zoom’ which is growing fast. But Apple is too late to catch it up. However, the Microsoft team has emerged as a competitive tool for Zoom to hold virtual events, online education.
Zoom is available for free to download on all devices and may have the same audio quality whereas you can use Facetime for Apple devices like iPhone, iPad, and laptop. Zoom is also available on all devices and most popular for classrooms at a time when schools were closed due to corona lockdowns.
These two became the most popular tools to keep online education and virtual conferences during a time of Pandemic amid lockdowns across the world. Zoom has been available for free to download on all devices for students and workers who studied and worked from home.
There are four reasons why FaceTime failed to catch up with Zoom in the online market at a time of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Firstly, an innovative Founder is running Zoom that is growing much faster than Apple. Even it became more famous for virtual conferences, events, and online education.
Secondly, zoom is dominating the videoconferencing market. It has features to give a place on the screen for online virtual events. It also provides an opportunity to record events. Moreover, it does not have Apple devices like iPhone, Laptop, or IPad.
Thirdly, Apple has blown an opportunity for FaceTime to lead and offers too little too late.
Fourthly, Zoom has offered a solution of holding a virtual event and online education amid the Pandemic. It also became even popular by providing a TV-like screen. Microsoft Team and Zoom had become more competitive for online education when schools were closed due to lockdowns in a bid to contain the spread of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Zoom Video has also dominated the corporate videoconference market. Whereas Apple’s AAPL +0.8% FaceTime never come up with the promise that Steve Jobs made when it launched. Apple announced to make some changes to FaceTime at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). However, it is now too late to catch up with Zoom.
Changes To FaceTime
At its WWDC, Apple announced making software enhancements to FaceTime for iPhone to extend its availability to people who don’t have Apple devices. According to MarketWatch, Apple has come up with plans to add three new features to FaceTime.
FaceTime links
Facetime Links will enable organizers to pass around a link to a scheduled FaceTime call even to those web-based users who don’t own Macs or other Apple devices.
Enhanced audio settings
It also plans to add another feature of enhanced audio settings on FaceTime that will also use to block out noisy background sounds” or even “captures everything that goes around them.
Content sharing
Content sharing is a popular feature for all devices. Users love to share content, and therefore devices like WhatsApp are most popular.
Apple has also come up with a plan to launch SharePlay. It will enable FaceTime users to watch content together. This new feature will also be available for Apple TV+ and others — such as Disney and HBO Max.
Apple is going to introduce these features to compete with Zoom and others. However, its competitors Zoom and Microsoft Team may submit some other parts of video conferencing for business and individual years until that time. The new features will still make Facetime unable to compete with Zoom.
