Free SIMs Introduced to Access BISP Digital Wallets
The Benazir Income Support Programme has launched Social Protection Wallets for one million beneficiaries to ensure transparency, security, and ease of assistance.
BISP is distributing free mobile SIM cards to eligible women nationwide to facilitate access to its new digital payment system.
This rollout follows directives from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to modernize payment mechanisms across Pakistan.
BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid instructed beneficiaries to visit the nearest BISP office or designated camp with CNIC and active mobile phone.
After biometric verification, women will receive a free SIM, which will be linked to their Social Protection Wallet for receiving assistance.

Senator Khalid emphasized that the SIM is completely free and warned beneficiaries against paying anyone claiming they could activate the wallet.
The Social Protection Wallet will become the exclusive channel for all future BISP payments, with official notifications sent to the registered SIM.
Chairperson Khalid described the wallet as a “digital tool carrying your financial power” and urged women to protect it like personal valuables.
BISP stated this initiative represents a major step toward financial independence, empowerment, and secure disbursement of funds for deserving women nationwide.
Beneficiaries have been advised to collect their free SIM cards from BISP offices or assigned camps by December 31 to activate wallets.
