Geely to Launch Electric Vehicles in Pakistan This Week

Geely Auto Pakistan is expected to officially introduce its electric and hybrid vehicle lineup this week, with a new teaser hinting at an October 24 launch. The Chinese automaker, entering the Pakistani market through Bestway Automotive, has generated excitement by showcasing its forthcoming models online without confirming full details yet.

Upcoming Geely Models for Pakistan

Geely plans to bring two fully electric vehicles and one plug-in hybrid SUV to Pakistan initially as fully imported units (CBUs). The models set to debut include the Geely EX2 and EX5 electric vehicles along with the Geely Starray plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

The Geely EX2 is a compact electric hatchback designed for urban driving. It features a 39.4 kWh battery delivering 114 hp and 150 Nm of torque, with a claimed driving range of up to 410 km based on CLTC standards. The EX2 was China’s top-selling vehicle in 2025, indicating strong market appeal.

The slightly larger Geely EX5 is an electric SUV offering a 60.2 kWh battery, 218 hp, and 320 Nm of torque. It promises a range of approximately 530 km. This model will compete against captive rivals such as the BYD Atto 3 and Dongfeng Vigo in Pakistan’s emerging EV segment.

The Geely Starray represents the brand’s hybrid offering with a 1.5-liter petrol engine coupled with an 18.4 kWh battery. It delivers a combined output of 260 hp and 387 Nm of torque, with an all-electric range of up to 105 km. Its inclusion in the October 24 unveiling remains unconfirmed but could provide a robust choice for buyers seeking hybrid technology.

Significance for Pakistani Buyers

Geely’s entrance comes at a crucial time when Pakistan’s automotive market is gradually embracing electric mobility. The import-based launch signifies that consumers will soon gain access to advanced electric and hybrid vehicles with competitive ranges and performance. The eventual establishment of a local assembly plant in Karachi could further reduce prices and improve aftersales support.

For Pakistani customers, these new options expand the EV market beyond currently available models, offering alternatives in both hatchback and SUV categories. With rising fuel prices and increasing pollution concerns, Geely’s offerings could help accelerate the adoption of cleaner transportation modes in the country.

Launch Expectations and Market Impact

The official launch date is anticipated based on Geely’s teaser video shared on social media, which included the date October 24 alongside a suggestion that “the wait is almost over.” Prior sightings of the EX2 and EX5 models in Pakistan have reinforced hopes that the full introduction is imminent.

While prices, localized specifications, and booking details remain undisclosed, market watchers expect Geely’s vehicles to be competitively positioned against existing electric and hybrid cars in Pakistan. The move by Bestway Automotive to back Geely underscores growing confidence in the country’s potential for EV growth and diversification.

Ahsan Tahir, an automotive journalist covering the sector, remarked, “Geely entering the Pakistan market marks an important milestone as it introduces advanced EV and hybrid technology tailored for local consumers.” Pakistani car buyers are advised to watch this space closely as further announcements unfold.
