Germany pledges EUR 45m to support Pakistan

Germany has pledged EUR 45 million in support to Pakistan to start new bilateral development projects.
Dr. Kazim Niaz, Secretary for Economic Affairs Pakistan, and Mr. Alfred Grannas, German Ambassador to Pakistan, attended the ceremony for the signing of EUR 45 million agreements on Technical Development Cooperation to initiate new bilateral cooperation projects.
These agreements stem from a longstanding partnership between the two countries. Pakistan, Germany to Enhance Trade and Investment
The projects align with German development cooperation thematic areas, including Climate and Energy, Just Transition; Sustainable Economic Development, Training, and Employment; Health, Social Protection, and Population Policy.
They aim to address global challenges such as climate change and the inclusion of vulnerable groups like women and youth.
Both parties emphasized the significant efforts made over the past decades. The impact of German development cooperation underscores successful collaboration targeting vital development sectors. Germany reaffirmed its commitment to Pakistan.
Ambassador Alfred Grannas remarked, “The German-Pakistani development cooperation has made significant contributions to the country.
Through today’s agreement, we aim to continue our journey towards a sustainable future in Pakistan.”
He cited German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze, stating, “International cooperation not only aids others but also benefits us, as global problems can only be solved together.”
Secretary Dr. Kazim Niaz expressed gratitude for the strong support received in technical development cooperation, emphasizing its contribution to socio-economic development.
German development cooperation has supported Pakistani Government initiatives for over 60 years, focusing on core areas such as Climate and Energy, Just Transition; Sustainable Economic Development, Training, and Employment; and Health, Social Protection, and Population Policy.
These efforts align with Sustainable Development Goals and Pakistan-German cooperation agreements.
