Ghandhara Confirms JAC T9 PHEV Launch in 2026

Ghandhara Automobiles Limited is preparing to expand its portfolio with the launch of the JAC T9 plug in hybrid electric vehicle in 2026.

The company also confirmed the arrival of the JAC T9 2WD, which is expected to reach customers during the first half of October.

Industry reports suggest the JAC T9 PHEV will compete with regional hybrid pickups, including BYD Shark 6, and may emerge as one of the first locally assembled PHEV trucks.

However, details regarding specifications, pricing, and localization remain undisclosed, leaving room for speculation within the automotive community.

The 2WD variant, already in local production, is set to offer the same interior features and safety technology as the 4×4 Hunter model.

Market analysts expect its pricing to remain below nine million rupees, allowing wider accessibility for buyers seeking advanced features without the added cost of a four wheel drive system.

Ghandhara launched the JAC T9 Hunter earlier this year, marking its entry into the premium pickup segment with a two litre turbo diesel engine and advanced eight speed transmission.

The company aims to strengthen its market position by diversifying options for customers while signalling commitment to hybrid mobility solutions.

Meanwhile, the company also reported consolidated net earnings of Rs1.8 billion in 4QFY25, significantly higher than Rs290 million recorded in the same quarter last year.

The earnings growth was primarily driven by strong sales of the newly launched T-9 truck, with 1,500 units sold, alongside higher JAC and Dongfeng truck volumes.

Gross margins rose to 17 percent, supported by an improved sales mix, while other income increased 4.5 times to Rs364 million, mainly from advance T-9 bookings.

Despite higher operating expenses of Rs1 billion due to rising volumes and a one-off write-off, the company announced a Rs10 cash dividend.
