According to the official notification, smaller industrial consumers classified under the B1 category, with connection loads up to 25kW, will now pay Rs 26.03 per unit on average, down from Rs 30.80.

Their off-peak rates have decreased to Rs 25.48 from Rs 30.05, and peak rates have been adjusted to Rs 35.74 from Rs 36.74. Additionally, a fixed monthly charge of Rs 1,000 will apply to these smaller units, aligning with charges recently introduced for residential households.

Larger industrial consumers have also benefited from tariff reductions. The B2 category, which includes consumers with loads between 25kW and 500kW, will now pay Rs 26.16 per unit on average, reduced from Rs 30.73.

The B3 category, covering 11-33kV transmission loads, will face a new rate of Rs 27 per unit instead of Rs 31. The highest industrial consumers in the B4 category, with 66-132kV loads, will see their rates lowered to Rs 26.43 from Rs 30.43 per unit.

This tariff revision is part of the government’s broader strategy to support industrial growth by lowering operational costs. It also reflects an effort to balance the interests of various electricity consumers, including those investing in renewable energy solutions like rooftop solar.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the decision, anticipating that the reduced power costs will enhance competitiveness and encourage further investment. However, the government continues to monitor the energy sector closely to ensure sustainable and equitable power distribution.
