Instagram Launches “Your Algorithm” for Reels
Instagram has launched a feature called “Your Algorithm” that lets users directly control the Reels content they see, beginning with a US rollout.
The tool, visible to English-speaking US users from Wednesday, allows people to view, adjust and personalise topics Instagram’s AI associates with their interests.
Users access the setting via a new icon — two lines with a heart — at the top-right of the Reels feed, says Instagram.
From the panel, people can add topics they want more of and remove subjects they find irrelevant, with the Reels feed updating accordingly.
“As your interests evolve over time, we want to give you more meaningful ways to control what you see on Instagram, starting with Reels.”

Instagram said improved AI tools would make recommendations even more tailored to each user, and that the feature will expand across the app soon.
Adam Mosseri said global users would see the setting after a staged rollout completes, and those missing it should update their Instagram app.
The panel also offers an option to share an algorithm summary directly to a Story, described as a first-of-its-kind transparency move for recommendations.
The update arrives soon after a 404 Media report that Instagram used AI to create search-friendly titles for some posts to boost Google visibility.
Instagram has not publicly commented on the report, and the company said the feature launches in the US today with additional languages coming soon.
