Jemima Khan Blocks Emails From Pakistan Amid Cyber-Harassment
Staff Report: Jemima Khan, a social activist and the former wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, recently revealed that she has blocked all emails from Pakistan due to persistent cyber-harassment.
In a statement shared on her Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), Jemima attributed the harassment to opponents of Imran Khan. She expressed her frustration, stating, “To friends in Pakistan legitimately trying to contact me, I have had to block all emails from Pakistan thanks to a cyber harassment operation, no doubt instigated by PTI’s desperate opponents.” Harassment Allegation Proven, DD Tech Fareed Ahmed Fined
She noted that X is banned in Pakistan, meaning only those using VPNs could see her post.
Reflecting on her long-standing connection to Pakistan, Jemima remarked, “Pakistani politics… the gift that keeps giving, even after leaving the country 20 years ago.”
This comment comes as a reflection of the political turmoil that has persisted in her life even after two decades of living abroad.
Over the past few years, Jemima has faced harassment and protests from Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supporters, particularly outside her mother’s home.
These protests were in response to similar demonstrations by PTI supporters outside Avenfield House, where former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resided during his self-imposed exile in London.
Despite leaving Pakistan years ago, Jemima’s life remains deeply intertwined with the country’s politics, partly due to her two sons with Imran Khan, Sulaiman Isa Khan and Kasim Khan.
While Jemima enjoys significant support from many social media users, she has also been targeted by critics of her ex-husband, often enduring misogynistic and racist attacks.
This ongoing harassment, both online and offline, led her to take the drastic step of blocking all emails from Pakistan, cutting off communication from the country she once called home.
