LPG Industries Seek Third-Party Access for Expanded Storage
The LPG Industries Association of Pakistan has appealed to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to grant third-party access for the commercial use of SSGC LPG (Pvt) Limited at Port Qasim to parties interested in building LPG storage facilities in Pakistan.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Irfan Khokhar, Chairman of the LPG Industries Association of Pakistan, highlighted the lack of LPG storage in Pakistan.
Khokhar further stated that allowing third-party access would enable an increase in Pakistan’s LPG reserve stock from two days to 30 days.JJVL’s closure becomes a blessing for LPG Importers who pocket billions
He lauded the Prime minister’s efforts to bring prosperity in Pakistan and commended the bold decisions taken in the past to promote the LPG industry in Pakistan, which has led to continuous growth under your leadership,” he expressed.
Khokhar also acknowledged the government’s assistance in maintaining the LPG supply chain throughout the country, ensuring economic rates for LPG consumers.
He pledged to stand with the Government of Pakistan, and hoped that the government would continue to support the survival of this industry.
Referring to the subject, he mentioned that the largest LPG storage unit, being established at Port Qasim by Interplast Pvt. Ltd., deserves the utmost gratitude from the entire LPG industry.
This development will increase Pakistan’s LPG reserve stock from 2 days to 30 days. The expanded storage capacity will not only ensure an uninterrupted supply chain of LPG at affordable rates nationwide but also bridge the demand and supply gap during fluctuations in the LPG market and shortages of natural gas, petrol, and diesel.
Khokhar emphasized that this initiative would contribute to the economy by generating billions in revenue for the National Exchequer and creating thousands of job opportunities for Pakistanis.
It will also increase per capita income, especially during these challenging economic conditions marked by rising inflation, where reserve stocks play a vital role in price control.
Therefore, considering the significant public interest and the betterment of the LPG industry in Pakistan, we urge you to grant third-party access for the commercial use of SSGC LPG Pvt. Ltd. pipelines to Interplast Pvt. Ltd.
This will increase the LPG reserve stock from 2 days to 30 days, benefiting the LPG industry and the overall economy of Pakistan, he added.
