Naval Golf Course built on 100 acres encroached state land

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman has said that around 100 acres of state land have been encroached to build the Naval Golf Course. The club is hampering the plan of CDA to build infrastructure.

CDA chairman informed that they had built Naval Golf Course on encroached land.

Chairman CDA confirmed that the Golf course club has encroached around 100 acres of state land, which is hampering the completion of roads as per the Master Plan.

During a discussion in a cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister unequivocally exhorted not to allow anyone to encroach on state land, no matter how influential the organization or individual.

The Prime Minister directed to immediately remove all encroachments into green areas, especially, the Margalla Hills National Park, and restore the original Master Plan.

The officials also highlighted the need to relocate those residing on the land allotted for the Defence Complex.

The Cabinet took note of the presentation’ by Chairman CDA, on the removal of encroachment on E-8 and E-9 Sectors (Margalla Road, and directed to expedite progress on the remaining points of the Action Plan.

The cabinet further directed to immediately remove all encroachments, by any organization or individual into the public right of way, green areas, especially the Margalla Hills National Park, and restore the original Master Plan.

The cabinet decided to construct Margalla Highway expeditiously on exactly the same alignment as per the original Master Plan of Islamabad and remove any encroachments thereon.

The Chairman CDA would apprise the Cabinet, about action taken to implement the Cabinet decision after two weeks.

The Chairman CDA gave a presentation to the Cabinet on the latest progress on the removal of encroachment on E-8 and E-9 (Margalla Road).

He highlighted compliance to Cabinet Directives.

Initially, CDA approached respective Services HQs to resolve the issue. Later CDA approached the ministry of defence (MoD) for an amicable solution.

Current Status

In compliance with the Cabinet directive, NHQ & AHQ have taken measures to restore green belts alongside sectors E-8 & E-9 at Khayaban-e-Iqbal.CDA has removed and re-aligned hampering infrastructures.
