Nepra allows KE to increase tariff for four months
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has issued a decision on Friday allowing K-Electric (KE) to increase tariff on account of fuel adjustment.
According to statement, the regulator has issued decision relating fuel adjustment for June 2020 to December 2020 in the matter of K-Electric.
The regulator has allowed increase in tariff for four months. However, it reduced the price for two months on account of fuel adjustment.
NEPRA had conducted public hearing on February 23,201 and issued decision on June 04, 2021 has issued its decision regarding K-Electric Fuel Charges adjustment for the months from June 2020 to December 2020.
The Authority has approved the reduction in tariff by Rs 0.7478 per unit for month of June 2020 and Rs 1.10 per unit for November 2020 on account of monthly fuel adjustment.
However, it allowed 0.7256 per unit increase for July 2020, 0.3078 per unit for August, 0.710 per unit for September and 0.49 per unit for December 2020.
Nepra said that its applicability of the increase in KE tariff will be to all the consumer categories except lifeline consumers. It shall be shown separately in the consumers’ bills on the basis of units billed to the consumers in the respective month to which the adjustment pertains.
Similarly, in case of reduction in tariff on account of fuel adjustment shall be applicable to all the consumer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic consumers consuming up-to 300 units and Agriculture Consumers of K-Electric.
It further pointed out that negative adjustment on account of monthly FCA will also be applicable to the domestic consumers having Time of Use (ToU) meters irrespective of their consumption level.
Further, industrial consumers who are availing Industry special package (ISP) will not be eligible to get the benefit of Negative FCA on incremental sales only. They will however, get the benefit of negative FCA on base KE tariff units.
The consumers of Karachi will enjoy relief in tariff reduction for two months. However, they will be facing increase in tariff for four months on account of fuel adjustments.
