No PM&DC Official Arrested, Driver Detained for Misuse of Name
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) denied reports of any official’s arrest over an alleged admission scam, clarifying that only a low-ranked driver was detained by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for misusing the Council’s name.
The PM&DC said on Thursday that no officer or official had been taken into custody by any law enforcement agency.
A spokesperson confirmed that the apprehended person served as a driver under general pool duties with no link to admissions, registration, or policymaking. The Council described him as support staff with no access to sensitive files or administrative functions.

According to PM&DC, an internal departmental inquiry was launched immediately after complaints surfaced. The employee was suspended and his salary halted under service rules. The FIA later confirmed his arrest, initially reported by local media.
The spokesperson said the Council was fully cooperating with investigators. “PM&DC maintains a zero-tolerance stance against corruption, fraud, and any misuse of authority,” the statement added, emphasizing that internal accountability measures were promptly enforced.
The regulator reiterated that it has no operational role in medical or dental college admissions, which remain under the jurisdiction of provincial admitting universities. “It is regrettable that unverified reports have sought to damage the Council’s reputation,” the spokesperson noted.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council urged students and parents to avoid unauthorized intermediaries and to verify all admission-related information through official PM&DC channels to uphold transparency and trust in medical education.
