No Restrictions to import Drugs from India, Senate Panel informed

Islamabad: Senate Panel was informed that there was no restrictions to import Drugs from India.
The Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination on Thursday was held at Parliament House, under the Chairmanship of Senator Dr Humayun Mohmand, discussed the matter of shortage of life saving drugs all over the country.
Committee member Senator Prof Mehar Taj apprised to committee that Sindh doctors have written that there is a severe shortage of several important injections and medicines in the entire sindh.ECC Fixes Prices of 49 New Drugs
She said that medicines which are used for life saving are not available in the market.
“I purchased medicines from the black market for my husband, but medicines are not available here”, she added.
While keeping in view, Drug Regular Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) officials said that there is no restriction on importing medicines from India under the Import Policy Order 2022.
They said any individual or or Private sector hospital could import the life saving Drugs through National Objection Certificate (NOC).
DRAP asked to provide the list of many drugs and injections available that will be provided.
The committee also discussed the ICT-Injured Patient Medical Aid Bill in the committee.
“If any person comes to the hospital in an accident or emergency, he/she should be treated immediately”, Senator Prof Mehr Taj.
She said that many people have died due to lack of prompt treatment and police investigations and many other reasons. “Every hospital should have an ambulance with basic life-saving facilities including oxygen”, she added.
If someone does not get treatment then impose three years imprisonment, this is also the punishment in Sindh.
Executive Director PIMS, Dr Rana Imran Sikandar apprised the committee that It already happens in Public sector hospitals, proposals should also be taken from private hospitals on ICT affected patient medical aid bill.
The committee Chairman said that this bill will be discussed again in the next meeting.
