Olympic Rivals Ready for Javelin Final Showdown
Olympic hero Arshad Nadeem has booked his place in the final of the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo with a decisive 85.28-metre throw. His achievement has kept alive the nation’s hopes for another medal on the global stage.
Nadeem began his qualifying round with a throw of 76.99 metres, followed by a modest 74.17 metres in his second attempt. With mounting pressure, he delivered a powerful final throw that crossed the automatic qualifying mark of 84.50 metres.
Placed in Group B, Nadeem will now meet India’s Neeraj Chopra, who cleared qualification with an 84.85-metre effort in his first attempt. Their rivalry, which has captured international attention, will once again headline the final round.

The championship began with 37 competitors, but only 12 have advanced to Thursday’s medal-deciding final. With both South Asian athletes through, the javelin event promises a dramatic contest.
Ahead of the qualifiers, Nadeem expressed optimism about his physical condition. “My body feels good, I’m pretty fit,” he said. “The qualifiers will show where I stand, and I’ll have expectations for the final based on that.”
Nadeem, who made history by winning gold at the Paris Olympics, remains one of Pakistan’s brightest sports icons.
