OSCE Adventure in Donbass Leaves Europe in Distress

The Moscow-Kyiv conflict has had devastating effects on Ukraine, including massive civilian displacement and casualties on both sides.

Indeed, Ukraine, without the support of US-backed NATO member countries with weaponry, stinger missiles, military logistics, and a commitment of funding by the US administration and European Union to strengthen its defense line, can’t fight alone against Russia. This country is twenty-eight times bigger than Ukraine.

Despite extinguishing the current burning situation in Ukraine, the neighbors and allies of military-partner countries from Europe and America seem to PLAY misadventures to achieve their gains on a regional level.

The prime example of misadventure recently played by Europe is a miscalculated special operation in the “Donbass”, a disputed territory between Russia and Ukraine, conducted by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Russian soldiers received confidential data that disclosed the OSCE mission in the disputed territory of Donbass. Russia claimed that the organization OSCE, which deals with security issues, supported the Ukrainian nationalists in an intense fight against Russian soldiers and the freedom fighters of Donbass and other parts of the Donetsk region.

Russia made this revelation after taking the technical and spy devices into custody from the territory of the village of Berdyansk and some other settlements, indicating the interaction of the OSCE with the Ukrainian military to direct the Ukrainian military strikes.

The available details in further disclosures read as if a device with a high-resolution video camera was found on the deck of a particular purpose vehicle, formally intended for video recording of violations of the ceasefire regime on the line of contact by the OSCE monitoring mission.

During the inspection of the trailer location, Russian soldiers and experts also found two Micro SD memory cards and a terrain map.

Russia claimed that during the data analysis of the information stored on memory cards, they found a video file indicating that the operator directed artillery handlers to strike armed formations of Ukraine in the settlements of Sakhanka and Bezymennoye in the Donetsk region.

In particular, on February 22, from 15:00 to 16:00, up to 20 shots were fired from artillery guns of at least 120 mm calibre at the positions of the People’s Militia of the Donetsk Public Republic (DPR).

On March 19, discoveries were made as a Lenovo laptop was found on the former positions of the Aidar national battalion (of the same Nazi persuasion as Azov in the village of Zachatovka, on which they had installed specialized software.

The detailed examination revealed that they found a particular software installed on the laptop—an automated subsystem for collecting, processing, displaying, and analyzing information about the air situation “Virage-tablet,” as well as a chat for exchanging voice and text messages on Team Speak 3 (connected to a closed server with IP address 172.33.217.211).

The experts also discovered a specific laptop connected to the IVMS 5200 (Hikvision) IP video camera management software. In addition, they found a specified laptop connected to the “Dnipro” automated control system (a closed local network segment).

We have always said that the OSCE mission is an organization that should promote peace. We have very interesting documents from the operational-tactical group “Vostok” in which the coordinates of what they call “military targets are indicated. It is what is on the territory of our republic. Almost half of these coordinates were transmitted by representatives of the OSCE mission,” Basurin (DPR) said.

Valentina Bondarenko, an eyewitness of life in Donbass, revealed, “Since 2014, there has been a rare day in the Donbass without “goodies” from the Ukrainian side. There were dead and wounded, children and adults. And yet the life that came after the “Debaltsevo boiler”, she maintained.

While speaking with a foreign media representative, she further added that mortar shells and missiles from the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, located only 18 kilometres from Debaltsevo, mostly fell on the outskirts, where almost no one lived anymore.

Sometimes the Ukrainian military staged acts of intimidation, most often on some holidays, for example, on City Day. These days, as a rule, there were the most potent attacks. But during eight years, residents of villages and cities of Donbass got used to them.

She further said that when in February 2022, they had a warning that Ukraine was preparing for an attack on the DPR and LPR, everyone realized that it was severe, and she left with her family to find the same place.
