Pakistan Fined after Over-rate Breach Against Sri Lanka

The International Cricket Councile (ICC) reprimanded Pakistan for maintaining a slow over rate during the ODI against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Match officials found the Men in Green four overs short of the required rate after calculating all time allowances permitted under ICC regulations yesterday.

The breach triggered financial penalties outlined in Article 2.22, which mandates fines for teams failing to complete overs within time.

Under this rule, players lose five percent of their match fee for every overdue over committed by their fielding side.

Match referee Ali Naqvi imposed the sanction after receiving the over-rate report submitted by the on-field and television umpiring team.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi accepted the charge immediately, removing any requirement for a formal disciplinary hearing to proceed further.

The ruling followed a narrow six-run victory secured by the Green Shirts while defending 299 runs against the visiting Sri Lanka.

Salman Ali Agha anchored innings with an unbeaten century that delivered stability and momentum during crucial phases of play.

Hussain Talat contributed a brisk half-century that strengthened middle order and maintained scoring pressure on the oppostion bowling unit.

All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz added late runs with an unbeaten cameo that carried Pakistan to a competitive total of 299 for five.

Half-century from Wanindu Hasaranga kept Sri Lanka competitive throughout their chase, offering resistance despite disciplined bowling display during the innings.

Pakistan sealed victory as Haris Rauf captured four wickets, ultimately restricting Sri Lanka to 293 for nine in fifty overs.
