Study Trip to the US: Blome Welcomes Pakistani Students
Ambassador Donald Blome congratulates Pakistani students headed to the United States to study comparative policymaking.
The U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, met with 44 students from across Pakistan to congratulate them on their upcoming departure for the United States to attend the Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders program funded by the State Department.
Students will attend an academic program on comparative public policy, exploring issues of public policy and democracy in the United States. They will also compare U.S. policy development with Pakistan’s.

Students from Pakistan and the United States will study civil rights, food security, environmental policy, and democracy. This program will take place at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts. Another group of 19 students will depart on June 25.
During a pre-departure orientation session, Ambassador Blome congratulated the students on their selection for the competitive program. The ambassador noted that educational exchanges have been a cornerstone of U.S.-Pakistan relations for 75 years.
On this trip to the United States, I will learn about America and teach Americans about Pakistan. Feel free to have frank discussions with other students. “You will be able to make a lasting contribution to your country and ours through this experience in the United States,” he said.
The Study of the United States consists of intensive, short-term academic programs that provide undergraduate students with a deeper understanding of the United States while simultaneously improving their leadership abilities. Seminar discussions, readings, group presentations, and lectures are all part of an institute.
In addition to coursework and classroom activities, the program includes educational travel, site visits, leadership activities, and volunteer opportunities. The U.S. government has sponsored approximately 400 Pakistani student leaders since 2007.
The relations between Pakistan and United States have been a long history. Two countries have been facing love and hate relations. However, they are old friends and US has been supporting Pakistan in different sectors. Pakistani students during a study trip to the US will learn a lot during discussions with experts.
