PCB Suspends Multan Sultans Over Alleged Contract Breach

The Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended the Pakistan Super League franchise Multan Sultans for allegedly breaching key clauses outlined in their contractual agreement.

The board issued a formal suspension notice after insiders claimed the franchise repeatedly violated league regulations despite receiving multiple prior warnings from the authorities.

Sources familiar with the situation revealed that recent remarks by team owner Ali Tareen criticizing PCB policies may have accelerated the disciplinary action taken.

PCB officials stated that Multan Sultans had been cautioned about possible termination if the matter remained unresolved within the officially designated time frame.

The board further hinted that it might initiate the process of finding a new franchise owner before the eleventh PSL season begins next year.

The development has created uncertainty regarding Multan Sultans future participation in the tournament, leaving supporters and analysts questioning the teams stability and direction.

Multan Sultans, considered one of the leagues most high-profile sides, remains its most expensive franchise with an annual fee reportedly near Rs1.25 billion.

This ongoing dispute adds another chapter to the long-standing conflict between the PCB and franchise owners regarding transparency, governance, and operational control within the league.

Earlier this year, Ali Tareen criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board for celebrating the Pakistan Super League season despite its visible decline in popularity.

He had accused PCB officials of ignoring major concerns related to falling public engagement and declining operational standards within the domestic T20 tournament.

In several posts shared on social media, Tareen had dismissed the claims of PCB that stakeholders were satisfied with the recently concluded PSL season.
