PDM to decide no-confidence move against PM
Just a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan received a vote of confidence in the National Assembly, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that now is the time for Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to decide No-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.
Addressing the joint press conference with the Pakistan Muslim League Hamza Shahbaz, the PPP leader said whatever they decide, they will achieve its unity by consensus of [a dozen opposition parties].
On Saturday, the lower house of parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of Prime Minister Imran Khan while reaffirming confidence in the premier, with six more votes than the magic number of 172.
Following the shock defeat of PTI candidate Hafeez Sheikh by PDM’s Yousuf Raza Gilani in the March 3 Senate elections, the Prime Minister had decided to take a fresh vote of confidence on a voluntary basis.
PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had also announced the opposition alliance will finalize the plan on March 8 to hold a long march in Islamabad on March 26.
Talking to reporters, Bilawal also said that People were fighting inflation and unemployment only due to an incompetent government imposed on them.
Bilawal said real representatives would resolve such issues when the people would be able to elect their real representatives in the assemblies. He further said that they intended to take to the streets but they did not want to leave the parliament.
Responding to a question about the vote of confidence, the PPP chairman said the prime minister’s inner fear prompted him to choose the vote of confidence. Pointing to the nomination of a joint candidate for the chairmanship of the Senate, Bilawal confirmed they would jointly contest the elections.
At the next stage of the PDM, he said, “Maulana Fazlur Rehman will decide the future course of action. Through the victory of Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Senate proved, he said, they had defeated the government, and Parliament was with them.
He hoped that in the coming days, the PDM would take strategic decisions by consensus and overthrow the incoming government.
Speaking on the occasion, Hamza said that the people buried the ‘fake preacher’ through their votes in the by-elections of Daska, Nowshera, and Sindh. The nation has already witnessed how the GDP, which was at 8. He said that PTI has been unable to do anything but resort to retaliatory politics.
