PIA pays 450 staff for one aircraft

Islamabad: It may be shocking that Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has 450 employees to operate on aircraft.
There is currently overstaffing in PIA that has 14000 workforces that come to 450 workforces for one aircraft.
This is the highest ratio of the PIA staff for one aircraft.
RESTRUCTURING PLAN OF PIACL
Given the financial difficulties faced by PIACL in carrying out it is since 2008 and with growing liabilities, Federal Government in its meeting held in March 2020, tasked the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Institution and Austerity (IRA) to develop a Restructuring Plan for PIA for submission.

Subsequently, A Committee under the Chairmanship of Finance Sec assigned the task of restructuring PIACL including its financial restructuring.PM office held a meeting on 8th Jun to discuss the restructuring of Pakistan International Airline (PIA).
Moreover, the Committee held several meetings in the Finance Division. The experts of the Aviation Sector and President National Bank and President of Alfalah Bank attended meetings.
Furthermore, the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Reforms and Austerity (IRA) had also been attending meetings of the Committee.
Restructuring Plan for PLA based on the input of the said Committee. The said implementation plan with quarterly targets for the period 2021-23 covering the following.

Voluntary separation scheme (VSS)
Outsourcing of non-core Functions
Operational Restructuring
Product Development and Revenue Enhancement Measures
Improvement in Performance
Balance Sheet Restructuring
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms and Austerity
Board of Directors of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) in its 53rd meeting held in January 2021 endorsed the restructuring plan after thorough deliberation.
Aviation Division Invited views comments on draft Restructuring Plan of PIACL from Finance Division and Law and Justice Division Both Ministries have furnished their views/financial restructuring.
PIA officials said that it would not be out of place to mention that it had engaged IATA Consulting to prepare the Corporate Business Plan of PIA as laid down in PPRA advised by the Ministry of Finance.
12 members of the IATA Consulting Team visited on February 22, 2021, and have started their work. CEO informed that the CEO, IATA constants team has shared PIA Restructuring Plan. The consultant’s team is likely to finalize Business Plan in 2021.
