PM Approves Key Energy Projects for Gwadar, GB

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting reviewing power-sector reforms and approved key energy projects for Gwadar and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He emphasized that reliable and affordable electricity is essential for economic activity, industrial growth, and public welfare in both regions.

The premier highlighted that uninterrupted power supply would strengthen investment opportunities and support long-term development in Gwadar Port City.

The meeting approved key initiatives for Gwadar, with Shehbaz Sharif stressing the need for consistent, affordable electricity.

He said stable energy supply would position Gwadar Port as a hub for regional and international economic activities, encouraging trade and industrial expansion.

The prime minister also approved a 100MW solar power project in Gilgit-Baltistan and ordered its immediate commencement.

He said the project must ensure reliable electricity for residents and contribute to the region’s economic uplift and public welfare.

Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that the economic development of Gilgit-Baltistan remains a top government priority.

He added that ongoing measures aim to promote industrial activity, attract investment, and create employment opportunities for local communities.

During the meeting, the premier commended the Ministry of Energy for its recommendations to address power shortages.

He directed the ministry to implement immediate, short-term, and long-term energy projects effectively.

He stressed that industrial power supply should meet regional and international standards to ensure competitiveness and sector stability.

The prime minister instructed all relevant agencies to coordinate closely and expedite project execution, avoiding bureaucratic delays.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that cohesive action and timely implementation are crucial to sustain power-sector reforms and deliver results.
