Govt justifies the increase in Prices of petroleum Products in September 2022
In a statement, the finance ministry stated that the government had considered the recommendations to increase the prices of petroleum products in accordance with the change in international prices and fluctuations in the exchange rate.
The Finance Ministry added that the petroleum tax had been kept at a minimum level in order to provide consumers with relief.
High-speed diesel is widely utilised in the agricultural and transportation industries. The country was experiencing a higher rate of inflation, and devastating floods had also caused an increase in commodity prices.
Due to its use in the transportation sector, the increase in the price of high-speed diesel will have a greater inflationary effect on the general public.
The recent increase in the price of high-speed diesel will exacerbate the plight of the masses as a result of rising inflation.
Gasoline is also used in automobiles and motorcycles.
CNG is an alternative fuel to gasoline.
In Punjab, all CNG stations have utilised LNG for a number of years.
Due to Pakistan LNG Limited’s (PLL) inability to arrange LNG imports, CNG retail outlets have also experienced a gas shortage.
Consequently, people will experience difficulties due to the increase in gasoline prices.
In remote areas of Pakistan, such as the north, where Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is unavailable for cooking, kerosene oil is also used.
The government has instituted a record increase in kerosene oil prices.
In addition, the Pakistani military uses kerosene oil in remote Pakistani regions.
The recent increase in the price of kerosene oil will also have an inflationary impact on the poor who use it for cooking.
LDO is utilised in the industrial sector.
