PM Reviews Security and Law Enforcement Projects

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review the progress of ongoing security and law enforcement projects in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, Deputy Chairman of Planning Jehanzeb Khan, federal secretaries, and senior officials from relevant departments.Interior Minister Meets Chinese Ambassador, Discusses Security Measures

During the meeting, briefings were given on the current security situation in Islamabad, the Islamabad Model Jail project, the Islamabad Safe City initiative, the Federal Counter-Terrorism Department, and the Special Protection Unit.

The meeting also discussed the establishment of National Facilitation Centers in Islamabad, as well as the K-9 unit, which is responsible for the detection and identification of narcotics and explosives.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the protection of Pakistani citizens and foreign nationals in Pakistan is a top priority for the state. He stated that any negligence in maintaining law and order and ensuring citizens’ safety will not be tolerated.

The Prime Minister directed an inquiry into the delays in the completion of the Islamabad Model Jail and urged that the project be completed promptly, considering modern requirements.

He also instructed the establishment of a professional training institution and a hospital within the Islamabad Model Prison and recommended consultation with Chinese experts for the formation of the Special Protection Unit.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif ordered the construction of a forensic lab in the Islamabad Safe City project, aligning with modern standards.

He emphasized that recruitment for all security projects should be based on merit, and the provision of technology should meet international standards and contemporary needs.
