PMDC Starts Probe Against Medics over alleged Negligence

Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Thursday launched an investigation into an alleged case of negligence by doctors in the Independent University Hospital Faisalabad.
According to a statement issued by PMDC, the Federal Minister of Health, Abdul Qadir Patel took notice of negligence by Doctors at Independent University Hospital Faisalabad.
He took notice of news floating on social media regarding the Negligence of Doctors at Independent University Hospital Faisalabad and directed PMDC to probe into the matter immediately.
PMDC Spokesperson Hina Shaukat told the NewzTodays that following the directions from the Federal Minister of Health Pakistan Medical & Dental Council has launched an investigation into an alleged case of negligence by doctors in the Independent University Hospital Faisalabad.
She said that upon receiving the complaint, President PM&DC promptly initiated an inquiry to investigate the reported incident thoroughly.
Hina said that the objective of the investigation is to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident, evaluate the extent of negligence involved, and take appropriate action in accordance with the law and regulations.
She added that the President of PMDC, Professor Rizwan Taj directed the Acting Registrar to write a letter to the concerned MS of the hospital. MDCAT 2023: Aspirants Demand Delay of Exam Until September End
Considering the gravity of the situation, the acting Registrar PM&DC took up the matter and wrote a letter to the Independent University Hospital Faisalabad.
Hospital administration was asked to furnish a comprehensive report within 3 days regarding the wrong conduct of surgery of a patient suffering from gall bladder illness along with another patient due for surgery for her knee.
She maintained that PMDC wants to conduct an impartial investigation, keeping in view all available evidence and testimony from involved parties.
She added that PMDC assures that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings, with the aim of safeguarding patient welfare and upholding the principles of professionalism and accountability within the medical field.
