Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima announced that Pakistan plans to hold the 5G spectrum auction during Ramadan this year.
She said the government aims to complete the auction process by the end of February, moving swiftly once all regulatory preparations have been properly finalised.
The minister added that following the auction, the quality of 3G and 4G services is expected to improve across the country within three to four months.
Shaza Fatima further stated that the government plans to launch 5G services in major cities within six months after completing the auction process successfully.

She explained that the PTA is consulting with stakeholders on the Information Memorandum, particularly regarding service quality standards and specific rollout conditions nationwide.
Telecom operators have been given three weeks to carefully review the proposed framework and provide their feedback to ensure a smooth and transparent auction process.
The minister noted that after stakeholder consultations, the Information Memorandum for the 5G spectrum auction will be finalised during the first week of February.
She added that telecom companies are finalising preparations, after which the country will be fully ready to move forward with the planned 5G spectrum auction.
