PTCL Announces Restoration of Internet Services

PTCL has announced that repair work on the country undersea communication cable has been completed, restoring nationwide internet connectivity.

The company had earlier cautioned users about potential slow speeds and temporary outages lasting up to eighteen hours due to ongoing maintenance activities.

PTCL confirmed that the affected section of the submarine network has been fully restored, ensuring stable internet performance across the majority of regions.

However, several users in Karachi continue facing slow internet speeds and difficulty accessing social media platforms despite the announcement of full restoration.

Officials said that technical teams are closely monitoring network performance to identify and address any lingering connectivity problems.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced a draft licensing framework for Fixed Satellite Services to expand digital connectivity.

This framework could open opportunities for both domestic and foreign satellite operators, including Elon Musk Starlink, to begin providing services in Pakistan.

According to PTA, the draft policy was developed following extensive stakeholder consultations conducted earlier in February twenty twenty five.

The proposed framework allows multiple companies to establish, maintain, and operate satellite communication systems, marking a step toward nationwide digital inclusion.
