Punjab Announces Local Holiday in Rahim Yar Khan
District administration of Rahim Yar Khan has declared a holiday on October 1 to mark the Urs of revered Sufi saint and poet Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Farid.
According to Deputy Commissioner Khurram Pervez, government and semi-government offices across the district will remain closed to facilitate celebrations and gatherings of devotees.
The Urs annually attracts thousands from different regions who attend spiritual gatherings, poetry recitals, and commemorative events honouring the saint enduring influence on culture.

This decision follows Sheikhupura administration announcement of a holiday on September 24 for the 228th Urs of iconic Sufi poet Syed Waris Shah.
Deputy Commissioner Shahid Imran Marth confirmed that district offices were closed to allow residents and visitors to participate freely in cultural and religious events.
Officials said such holidays reflect the lasting cultural and spiritual significance of Sufi saints, whose traditions continue shaping community celebrations across many regions.
