Punjab Announces Two Consecutive Holidays

The Punjab has announced Friday, November 1, as a public holiday for all subordinate courts to ensure smooth conduct of the Bar Council elections.

Officials said the decision aims to allow lawyers to fully participate in the electoral process while maintaining order during polling activities across major districts.

All subordinate courts across Punjab will remain closed for the day, giving legal professionals the opportunity to cast their votes without facing any disruptions.

The Punjab Bar Council elections have intensified political activity among lawyers, with campaigning gaining momentum in the past few weeks across different divisions.

A closely contested race is expected in multiple divisions, with candidates competing vigorously for positions in the provincial bar council this year.

Polling stations have been established in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, and Sahiwal to accommodate all 341 candidates.

Officials highlighted that the Lahore division is witnessing particularly strong competition, where 93 candidates are vying for representation in the provincial bar council elections.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of Narowal, Syed Hassan Raza, has announced a local public holiday on Saturday, November 1, for the annual Urs celebrations.

An official notification confirmed that all public and private offices in Narowal district will remain closed to observe the spiritual event at Alipur Syedan Sharif.

The Urs attracts thousands of devotees every year from different parts of Punjab, making it one of the most significant and widely attended religious gatherings.

With Sunday immediately following the local holiday, residents of Narowal will enjoy two consecutive days off during the festive weekend celebrations.

District authorities have finalized security and traffic management plans to ensure a smooth and safe flow of devotees attending the Urs celebrations this year.

The local administration has directed law enforcement agencies to maintain order and provide necessary support to facilitate all visitors attending the spiritual ceremonies.
