OGRA fines Rs 15 million to OMCs

Islamabad: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) imposed a fine of Rs 5 million each on three OMCs for being responsible in petrol crisis in the current month of June 2020, said a spokesman of the OGRA.

Three OMCs fined include BYCO, ASKAR and BE Energy were fined Rs five million each, said spokesman of Ogra, Imran Ghaznavi in his tweet.

It is also important to mention that the OGRA earlier this month of June also imposed Rs 40 million fine on leading oil marketing companies including foreign firm Shell for hoarding petroleum products that led to petrol crisis across the country. They include OGRA has imposed fine on Shell Pakistan & Total Parco, PUMA, Go, Hascol and Attock Petroleum Limited.

In addition to fines, a case was also registered against three Oil Marketing Companies including foreign firm Shell for hoarding petroleum products. An FIR has also been launched by Provincial Government of KPK against Shell Pakistan for hoarding the petrol at Taru Jabba, Peshawar.
