The Punjab government has completed preparations for Ramazan by announcing large-scale subsidised markets and assistance programmes to ensure affordable access to essential food items across the province.
Officials confirmed that 100 Ramazan bazaars and 1,216 Maryam tables will be established in 152 tehsils to facilitate organised distribution of groceries and other daily necessities at reduced prices.
Under the Rs47 billion Ramazan Nigahban package, authorities have begun distributing special cards enabling citizens to purchase subsidised goods from designated bazaars and sale points throughout Punjab.
At these markets, a 10 kilogram bag of flour will be sold for Rs850, sugar will be capped at Rs160 per kilogram, and chicken meat priced Rs15 below official rates.

In addition, consumers will receive a 20 percent discount on 20 essential items, while 120 dedicated sale points will operate specifically to manage flour distribution efficiently.
The government has directed 105 large supermarket chains to display official sale rate counters, while district commissioners, the Para Force, and the Punjab Food Authority oversee prices and quality standards.
Meanwhile, a three-day Ramazan Savings Festival will begin tomorrow at Jilani Park in Lahore, offering further opportunities for citizens to purchase essential items at subsidised rates.
