Qatar Recalls Pakistani Beauty Products

The Qatar Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in collaboration with Mohseni Trading Stores, has urgently recalled several Pakistani beauty products after tests revealed dangerously high levels of mercury.

The toxic metal poses serious health risks, prompting authorities to advise consumers to immediately stop using these products and return them to the point of purchase.

The affected products include popular brands such as Aneeza Gold, Goree Beauty Cream, Goree Whitening Face Wash, Faiza Beauty Cream, Golden Pearl Beauty Cream, and Jiaoli Cream. These items were found to contain mercury concentrations that exceed safe limits, raising concerns about consumer safety.

Mercury exposure, even in small amounts over time, can cause significant damage to the nervous system, kidneys, and skin.

On the skin, it may lead to irritation, redness, rashes, discoloration, peeling, and acne. Prolonged exposure allows mercury to enter the bloodstream, potentially harming vital organs and resulting in long-term health complications.

The Ministry emphasized that public safety remains its highest priority and assured the public that strict inspections of cosmetics in the market will continue.

Consumers are also encouraged to report any suspicious or unsafe cosmetic products to the Consumer Protection and Anti-Commercial Fraud Department.

This recall highlights the importance of rigorous quality control in imported beauty products and the ongoing efforts by Qatar authorities to protect public health from hazardous substances.
