Rahat Kaunain appointed Chairperson CCP again

Islamabad: The federal Cabinet on Tuesday approved appointment of Rahat Kaunain as new chairperson Competition Commission of Pakistan, it is learnt reliably.
According to sources, cabinet also approved appointment of Ahmad mujtaba and Shumalia Lone as members CCP.
According to sources Rahat Kaunain, who currently works as a practicing lawyer and a partner in Hassan Kaunain Nafees law firm, had previously served twice as a member of CCP, including one term from 2010 to 2013, as the chairperson of CCP. Rahat Kaunain was a favourite candidate to head the regulatory body once again.
Ms Rahat Kaunain served in CCP as member and chairperson during 2010-13. She hails from a political family of KP. CCP’s decision taken by its first chairman against the number of cartels like fertilizer, sugar, automakers and others are still in the court of law for litigation and the creation of this institution against the anti-competitive practices in the industries on the recommendations of World Bank is still awaiting its true benefits and also it fails to act as regulator as well.
