Rina Saeed appointed chairman IWMB
The PTI government has appointed Rina Saeed Khan as chairman Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB).
The cabinet has given formal approval in this regard. The climate change division had sent a panel of three candidates to appoint chairman IWMB.
However, the cabinet approved Rina Saeed Khan as chairman of IWMB. The Climate Change Division informed the government had established Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) in 2015 under the Islamabad Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation, and Management) Ordinance, 1979.
The government had promulgated the Ordinance 1979 “to provide for the protection, preservation, conservation, and management of Wildlife and to set up of the National Park in the Islamabad Capital Territory,” The administrative control of IWMB was formally transferred to the Ministry of Climate Change on 19-09-2018.
Section 4 of the Islamabad Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation, and Management). The ordinance, 1979 provides that “The Federal Government may constitute a Board of Wildlife Management consisting of such members, including a Chairman as It may appoint.”
Accordingly, this Ministry had reconstituted and notified a nine (09) member Board with the Federal Government/Cabinet’s approval except Chairman of the Board. The government had appointed the incumbent Chairman in 2015.
The position of Chairman spearheads the IWM Board In terms of Islamabad Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation, and Management) Ordinance, 1979 read with Islamabad Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation, and Management) Rules, 1983 and was, overall, advisory in nature. Without any nomination of a nonofficial Member of the IWM Board for the post of Chairman, it would help focus on the larger perspective of best International practices on wildlife management and national parks.

However, the human resource will carry out operational activities hired against the sanctioned strength of the IWMB. Meanwhile, Climate Change Division solicited the approval of the Cabinet to the appointment of one of the members as Chairman, IWMB, from amongst the panel of three (03) members of Islamabad Wildlife Management Board:
