SBP deputy governor reinforces cashless-economy push

Dr. Inayat Hussain, Chairman of the Board of Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC) and Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), visited the JazzCash Experience Lounge and the network operations center in Islamabad and commended the digital financial services platform for driving financial inclusion and digital payments across the country.

Aamir Ibrahim, CEO Jazz and Chairman of Mobilink Microfinance Bank; Murtaza Ali, CEO JazzCash; and Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, CEO Mobilink Microfinance Bank, briefed Deputy Governor Dr. Inayat Hussain on JazzCash’s ongoing initiatives and innovations that are accelerating the adoption of digital payments nationwide.
 
“The State Bank welcomes and supports such innovative initiatives that promote digital payments and financial inclusion,” said Dr. Inayat Hussain, Deputy Governor SBP. “Public-private collaboration is essential to realizing Pakistan’s vision of a cashless, inclusive, and transparent economy.”

Earlier this year, the JazzCash Experience Lounge was inaugurated by Governor Jameel Ahmad, Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah, and VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu. The lounge serves as an interactive hub demonstrating how digital financial services are accelerating Pakistan’s transition to a cashless economy.
