Sharjah RTA Introduces Bus Links to Al Dhaid Etihad Rail Station
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Sharjah has recently rolled out three new bus routes to enhance connectivity to the Al Dhaid Etihad Rail station. This initiative supports the upcoming launch of the UAE’s Etihad Rail passenger service and aims to facilitate seamless travel for commuters by linking the rail station with key locations within the emirate.
Details of New Feeder Bus Routes
The SRTA introduced three feeder bus services, named ER1, ER2, and ER3, which bridge crucial transport gaps by connecting Al Dhaid station to various major bus stations including Al Madam, Al Saja’a, and Al Jubail. Each route caters to different areas, providing accessible and efficient public transport alternatives for both residents and visitors relying on the new train network.
- ER1: Covers the route from Al Madam to Al Dhaid via Bridge Road, with an approximate journey time of one hour. Departure times from Al Dhaid include several slots between early morning and late evening, facilitating strong coverage throughout the day.
- ER2: Operates between Al Saja’a and Al Dhaid, offered as a rapid route with an average trip duration of 43 minutes. It serves multiple departure times spanning from early to late evening.
- ER3: Connects the centre of Sharjah at Al Jubail Bus Station to Al Dhaid station, running trips that take around one hour and 42 minutes. This route provides vital linkages for passengers traveling between the city centre and the rail station.
Impact on Transportation in the UAE
The addition of these feeder bus routes represents a significant stride towards integrating different modes of transportation across Sharjah and the wider UAE. The initiative not only improves public transport accessibility but also encourages sustainable travel habits by reducing the dependence on private vehicles and easing road congestion.
Transport officials emphasize that such multi-modal connections are key to maximizing the efficiency of the national transport system. Passengers interested in timetable details, fares, or route information can visit the Sharjah RTA website or contact their customer service hotline.
Why This Matters for Pakistan
Pakistan’s rapid urbanization and growing population are placing increased demands on its public transport infrastructure, making lessons from successful regional projects highly relevant. Sharjah’s integrated approach showcases how coordinated transport planning can improve commuter experience and environmental sustainability. As Pakistan continues to develop its transport networks, such examples emphasize the importance of offering efficient, interconnected options that reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions.
“These new bus routes are designed to offer a seamless travel experience and promote sustainable transportation alternatives,” remarked a Sharjah RTA spokesperson, underscoring the broader goals behind the project.
