Shell signs ABHI for Carbon Compensation Offer
For the debut of its new voluntary carbon compensation program, Shell Pakistan Limited signed ABHI, Pakistan’s first financial wellness platform, as its first official customer.
This program gives all ABHI employees who use Shell Gasoline Cards a way to use Shell’s extensive portfolio of carbon credits to offset difficult-to-abate carbon emissions from their fuel consumption. ABHI will make up for the unavoidable carbon emissions produced by its sales fleet in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.
These credits are produced by global carbon offset initiatives, which include both natural programs like conservation, afforestation, and so forth, as well as projects using alternative approaches.
These initiatives aid in reducing or eliminating greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon credits are given out once the emission reductions have been independently validated by standards that are widely accepted, such as the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standards (CCB).
Some of these initiatives meet a number of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations while also advancing the protection of wildlife and local populations.
Shell Pakistan’s Managing Director and General Manager of Mobility, Mr. Waqar Siddiqui, said during the ceremony that the company takes an “avoid-reduce-compensate” mitigation hierarchy approach to reduce emissions. Shell oil company Posts a profit of Rs 2.1 billion
To hasten the transition to net zero emissions, we advise this strategy to all of our partners and clients. One of the workable solutions to reduce emissions that are challenging to reduce is the use of high-quality carbon credits. We are happy to help ABHI with its decarbonization efforts.
“Shell is leading global initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, and ABHI is happy to be a part of it,” said Omair Ansari, CEO, and co-founder of ABHI.
Being a fintech with rapid expansion, ABHI is aware of its obligation to the environment and welcomes the opportunity to promote green initiatives. In addition to giving people financial independence, we also support social change.
