Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League on Tuesday, saying his passion and motivation to serve cricket will always remain.

In an Instagram post, Malik wrote that he cherished every moment and friendship formed on and off the field throughout his ten-year PSL career, adding that it was time to retire.

Malik, who represented Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators, played a total of 93 matches, scoring 2,350 runs at an average of 33.09 and a strike rate of 127.78.

During his PSL career, he also recorded 15 half-centuries, establishing himself as one of the league’s most consistent and versatile all-rounders across multiple franchises.

His retirement comes as the PSL prepares to enter a new era with the addition of two new teams, Hyderabad and Sialkot, at the marquee auction earlier this month.

The highly anticipated 11th edition of the PSL will run from March 26 to May 3, featuring eight teams, with Lahore Qalandars set to defend their championship title.

Malik emphasized that while his playing career in the PSL has ended, his dedication to contributing to cricket’s development and mentoring younger players will continue.
