Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, held an important meeting with Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, to discuss enhanced cooperation between the federal and provincial governments for the promotion and development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Welcoming the Chief Minister to the Ministry of Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision is centered on empowering SMEs and women entrepreneurs as key drivers of inclusive and sustainable economic growth. He noted that, in line with the Prime Minister’s directives, all provinces must work together to strengthen Pakistan’s micro, small, and medium enterprise sector.
Haroon Akhtar Khan highlighted that provinces play a crucial role in SME development, adding that Balochistan possesses immense potential, abundant opportunities, and a hardworking workforce capable of contributing significantly to the national economy. He announced the establishment of a SME Task Force with the Government of Balochistan to ensure coordinated efforts and effective implementation of SME-related initiatives.
The Special Assistant further stated that the task force will focus on agriculture-based SMEs, livestock development, youth empowerment, and the promotion of women-led businesses, which form an integral part of the broader SME development strategy.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti reaffirmed that the Government of Balochistan is fully committed to the promotion of SMEs across the province. He expressed the desire that the people of Balochistan expand their businesses and compete effectively in the market. He assured that, with the support of the federal government, Balochistan will extend full cooperation for SME development in all sectors.
The Chief Minister noted that the growth of SMEs in Balochistan will strengthen both the regional and national economy, adding that Balochistan has an important role to play in Pakistan’s SME landscape and that local entrepreneurs will be fully encouraged and supported.
Haroon Akhtar Khan also appreciated the efforts and commitment of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti toward the promotion of SMEs in Balochistan, reiterating the federal government’s resolve to work closely with the province to translate policy into tangible economic outcomes.
